"Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech..."

National Freedom of Speech Week
October 18-24, 2010

Laupus Library (where I work) and Multimedia and Technology Services Diversity Committee invited East Carolina University's West Campus to celebrate National Freedom of Speech Week.

They posted giant sheets of paper on the walls in the hall outside of the library.  They asked that people express themselves on the Free Expression Wall.  Pens, markers, and crayons were provided and it didn't take long for the bare white papers to be covered...

Celebrate What's Great at the NC State Fair

It's that time of year... you know that time where you get to go to that place with all the cute smelly animals, crowds of people, amusement rides, games, award winning food, ginormous pumpkins, and everything and I mean everything you could think of is deep fried!  Yep that's right it's NC State Fair time.  I haven't been in over 5 years which means I haven't been since I've met my husband.  So this year we made plans, I took off work and dragged that Michigan boy to the State Fair.  Although he was a little culture shocked we had a blast... Can't wait for next year!

My Husband is Old... He's 27!

On October 10th my hunk of a husband turned the big 27.  Thankfully the Marine Corps let him have his birthday off so we could celebrate.  All he wanted to do was go to Buffalo Wild Wings to pig out and watch his favorite NFL team, the Detroit Lions.  Little did he know that I had invited some friends to join us.  When we got there he was surprised that we had a table reservation for more than two in front of the large screen that his game was going to be played on.  He was one happy boy!  We enjoyed great food, great company, an awesome birthday cake (made by me), and a win by the Detroit Lions.  Eric also was very surprised by his birthday gift that I gave him... A brand new iPod Nano!!!  He lost his a few months ago when we went to the beach on vacation.  I told him that he would have to do without so he was convinced he wasn't going to get one for his birthday.  Yeah I'm sneaky and got him one... I know I know I'm the best wife EVER.  The great part of this story was a few days after his birthday he found his "lost" iPod in a pair of shoes that he hasn't worn since our beach trip.

Just a Small Town Girl... With Really Big Dreams

On September 25th, 2010 I headed to Williamston, NC to cheer on my baby cousin as she competed in the North Carolina State Finals of the 29th Annual Colgate Country Showdown. The Showdown is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers. She didn't win this round of the compettion but she did give one hell of a performance.  This girl  is going places... so watch out Nashville TN!

I present to you Ms. Kasey Tyndall...
